Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
